Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered! In this guide, we’ll walk you through the simple steps to complete a firearm transfer smoothly and efficiently.

Step 1: Contact Carolina Gun Brokers

Before initiating the transfer process, it’s essential to get in touch with Carolina Gun Brokers to inform them about your intention to transfer a firearm. You can reach out to them via email [email protected] to discuss the details of the transfer and any specific requirements they may have.

Step 2: Gather Required Information

To facilitate the transfer process, we will need to gather some essential information, including:

  • Your personal details (name, address, contact information)
  • Details of the firearm you intend to transfer (make, model, serial number)
  • Any pertinent documentation related to the firearm (purchase receipt, ownership documents)

Having this information readily available will streamline the transfer process and ensure everything moves smoothly.

Step 3: Arrange for Firearm Shipment

Once you’ve coordinated with Carolina Gun Brokers and gathered all the necessary information, you’ll need to arrange for the shipment of the firearm to their location. Ensure that you comply with all federal and state laws regarding the shipping of firearms to avoid any legal complications.

Step 4: Visit Carolina Gun Brokers for Background Check

Once the firearm has been delivered to our location, you will need to visit Carolina Gun Brokers to complete the transfer process. Below are the fees for the transfer:

  • For handguns/revolvers:  $25 per transfer with Concealed Carry Permit, $40 per transfer without Concealed Carry Permit
  • For rifles, long guns, or lower receivers:  $25 per transfer with Concealed Carry Permit, $40 per transfer without Concealed Carry Permit

During your visit, you will undergo the required background check as per North Carolina state law. Once the background check is completed, and all necessary paperwork is processed, the firearm will be transferred to you legally.

Transfer fee is still required regardless of background check status or return/refund of the firearm.

Step 5: Complete Transfer Paperwork

Before leaving Carolina Gun Brokers premises, ensure that you complete all necessary paperwork related to the firearm transfer. This may include filling out a transfer form, providing identification, and signing any required documents.

Step 6: Take Possession of the Firearm

Once all paperwork is completed and the background check has been approved, you will be able to take possession of the transferred firearm.  If you are delayed on the background check for any reason, you will be notified once we have the approval and can schedule another day to pick up your firearm.

Transferred items not picked up within 60 days of arrival will begin to incur a $50 storage fee monthly. If after 6 months the item remains it will be surrendered to Carolina Gun Brokers and sold to cover the storage fees.
